Back-to-School Backpack Drive Success!
Foster A Dream’s Backpack drive was a success once again! Throughout the entire month of July, Foster A Dream worked to collect as many new backpacks filled with school supplies as possible in efforts of reaching our goal of 1,500 backpacks! Our office great room was filled to the brim with backpacks waiting to be handed out to local foster youth. As backpacks were delivered truckload after truckload, our diligent volunteers worked tirelessly in order to get all of the backpacks counted and ready for distribution. Donations are still coming in and the amount of backpacks continues to grow, so look for our grand total in September’s newsletter!
On Thursday, August 4th, Foster A Dream took part in Solano County’s Annual Foster Care Picnic at which backpacks, blankets, and special prizes were given out to over 100 foster youth. Foster A Dream was also delighted to host their Distribution Day on Saturday the 6th, at which 80 local foster youth came to personally pick out their new backpack and enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch! We would like to send a huge thank-you to our volunteers and participants who made this all possible and a special thank-you to our friends at John Muir Medical Center, Sleep Train, and Faith Lutheran Church for their wonderful donations! Your generosity has made it possible for hundreds of local foster youth to begin a new school year with a brand new backpack and supplies they will be proud to call their own. Thank you!!!
